The House of Poiray was created in 1972 by François Herail and Michel Hermelin. It is one of the last watchmaking and jewelry luxury houses to join the closed circle of the Place Vendome. Indeed Poiray was at that time nicknamed “the young lady of the Place Vendôme”.In 1985, Nathalie Hocq joins the company and marks the starting point of an important collaboration with François Herail. Further to this collaboration some of the emblematic lines by Poiray were born :
- Creation of Ma Première
- Creation of the Tresse line
- Creation of the Heart Collection in 1988
- Gold lines enriched with multicolored gems and pearls
From that point in time Poiray knows an important success and acquires a trusted reputation thanks to the originality of its colorful timepiece and jewelry creations with sober lines and soft round shapes.
In a few years Poiray achieved to build a strong, recognizable brand with a real personality.
Poiray opens its flagship store in 1988 at 1 rue de la Paix in Paris. In 2002, Poiray is bought by the Perficio Group.
Three years later Poiray is bought by Alliance Designers Group, managed by Alain Dumenil a luxury investor, who owned brands such as Scherrer, Francesco Smalto, Stephane Kelian and Féraud.
In November 2009, the group decides to launch on the stock market in order to finance its development and its growth.
Relying on its expertise of high jewelry traditions and its passion for craftsmanship, Poiray has always been a tastemaker. The name “Poiray” has become a synonym of creativity through its cultural, poetic and modern dimensions, which characterizes the House.
Each piece of jewelry and watchmaking is distinctive of Poiray, by its pure lines, perfect volume and soft curves all symbols of femininity and sensuality.
